I am a keen biker, I love nights out and probably far too much alcohol. I enjoy spending time with friends and family.

My advice to getting started is... Listen to the coaches advice. Slow and steady wins the race. Quality over quantity.
I was nervous at first to try CrossFit after seeing it on the internet. Also, I thought that I would be expected to be at a certain level of fitness before starting but all the workouts and movements were scaled to my ability. That’s one of the reasons of why it has been so enjoyable.
My first impression was “Wow this is tough!”

But in all seriousness, it has been AMAZING, from the variation of workouts, to the coaching team and also the other members.
It is a really enjoyable environment to train in and the coaching team have been approachable and helpful from Day 1.
I was totally intimidated by the whole thing at first! Completely out of my comfort zone, even shaking with nerves before the class sometimes!
I’ve just never got bored of it as I have with other exercise as its always different and you’re always making progress so it never gets easier you just get better and can challenge yourself more.
II think my main achievement is sticking with it long enough at the beginning until going twice a week became a habit and part of my life. Having never stuck to any exercise for very long I can’t imagine not going to Crossfit every week now.
12 months down the line and CrossFit Ampthill is my sanctuary 3 times per week, an opportunity to leave the pressures of the outside world behind.
I document everything I do to see where the gains are or to improve strategy in the workouts, this gives me the satisfaction that I am improving, getting stronger and definitely fitter. I even look forward to the WOD!
Day to day now is a lot more simple, bend down to put shoes on – no problem, run around after the kids – easy, Hard day gardening – still have the energy to go out after!
